Entry requirements for Mozambique
All visitors to Mozambique require a passport, which is valid for at least six months after end of the visit and a visa. There is much confusion as to whether visas may be obtained on entry in Mozambique; it is recommend obtaining a visa in advance. Visitors arriving by vehicle to Mozambique must have a valid driver’s license and the car’s original registration papers.

Customs

If arriving by air to Mozambique, electronic equipment must be declared. Other goods may attract import duties if the official decides that one intends to sell the good in Mozambique.

Visitors from or passing through a yellow fever zone require a valid International Certification of Vaccination. Mozambique is two hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time. One hour ahead of European Winter Time, and seven hours ahead of the USA’s eastern Standard Winter Time. Sydney is eight hours ahead of Mozambique. Ilha de Mozambique is far enough east for the sun to rise 1 hour earlier.

Electricity in Mozambique
Electrical power supplied is 220 volts AC (50HZ) but as variations are common in Mozambique, appliances should be surge-protected. Socket types vary from 3-and 2- pin round to 2-pin square; to bring a universal adapter plug is recommended.

The use of Water in Mozambique
Tap water in Mozambique is not safe to drink unless the source is an uncontaminated borehole at one of the hotels or lodges. Boil all water and drink only bottled water. Sun lotion is required as the sun in Mozambique is very strong. A lot of rivers and lakes in Mozambique are infested with bilharzias. Zambezi sharks occur off the Mozambican coast while poisonous snakes can be found in certain areas in Mozambique.

Health Precautions for Mozambique
The tropical climate in Mozambique carries with it a high incidence of insect as well as waterborne diseases and infection. A consultation is recommended in regards to the tropical diseases and the malaria treatments.
